Louis XVI: Is it the right thing for Louis to die?
He states "Louis must die, because the country must live," (Robespierre 4). Louis was a tyrant, condemned and tried for treason. This man Robespierre explains Louis is the accused and shall be punished for his malevolent doings. Do you want a Republic; instead of this so-called monarchy? Is back breaking work an ideal for a better social system; of course not! We both share the same side as Robespierre, Louis must die, as he explains in his speech, "Against Granting the King a Trial," (Robespierre 1).
Robespierre interprets Louis’s way of ruling and noticed that an execution must be enforced due to treason. Although Louis tried creating a Republic, it was unsuccessful. So, Robespierre noticed Louis wasn't creating a Republic, it was a monarchy, he states, "Representatives, what is important to them, what is important to yourselves, is that you fulfill the duties which their confidence has imposed upon you. You have proclaimed the Republic, but have you given it to us? We have not yet made a single law which justifies that name; we have not yet reformed a single abuse of despotism. Away with names; we have still tyranny complete, and in addition, factions more vile and charlatans more immoral, with new ferments of troubles, and of civil war," (Robespierre 1). Robespierre explains Louis is basically not doing his “job” of running the government smoothly. His way of ruling is tyrannical and fraud. There is no proof showing Louis is fixing this dilemma. He was given us nothing. What he calls the name is tyranny and a monarchy; although Louis calls it a Republic. So far there aren't any laws that enforce this form of government and it’s taking a toll on the people of France. Each day is a step closer towards a civil war. That is why Louis must be executed.
Robespierre has developed good ethos because throughout the years, he has noticed Louis’s ways. As head chair of the National Assembly, he decided to make a change to this. I believe Robespierre is trustworthy because for one: Louis isn’t making any change to France, two: having a change in the government is the better solution, and three: Robespierre believes in the Republic. In conclusion, Robespierre is best to presenting this speech and I agree that Louis must be killed.
